Preah Vihear Temple
Is one of the most remote provinces in Cambodia.
But, in the past it was an important place as a
result one can be seen of the famous group of temples
such as Koh Ker, Preah
Khan Kampong Svay & Preah Vihear. Koh Ker use
to be palace of the Khmer Emperor by King Jayavarman
IV whom built this city in year 921 AD. The temple
still hidden in the heart of jungles.

Siem
Reap Home to Angkor Wat (314 km from
Phnom Penh)
Siem Reap is the ancient historical city of
the Khmer Empire of the 9th Century. Siem
Reap is a small charming city with a river
flowing through the center of town. While
most tourists spend their time exploring the
ancient
temple ruins, there are plenty of other diversions
in the city. The Tonlè Sap Lake is
located here and boat tours offer visitors
a glimpse into the traditional Khmer way of
life. Floating Villages, sunset cruises and
tour of the bird sanctuary reserve of Prek
Tuol. Visiting the local stone and wood-carving
school or the nearby Silk Farm are also interested
options. |

Banteay
Meanchey Victory (359 km from Phnom
Penh)
Banteay Meanchey is a newly province which
had been formed by
combining a parts of Battambang and Siem Reap
provinces. Sisophon is the name of its provincial
capital city. The Poipet international gateway
is located in this province. The 12th Century
temple of Banteay Chhmar is found here as
well.
Battambang the Second City (291 km
from Phnom Penh)
Battambang is located in a rich and fertile
plain, which provides much of
the rice and other important crops for the
country. The Sangkè River cuts through
in the middle of the town, which is filled
with interesting colonial architecture. The
region has numerous Angkorian and pre-Angkorian
sites.
Some of the most interesting are the Wat Ek
Phnom(11th C.), Wat Basset Temple(7th C.),
Phnom Banon, Phnom Sampeou & Phnom Krapeu
including interesting cultural excursion.
Pailin Rich Gem Town
This small town near the border with Thailand,
with a gem, precious stones and timber resources,
was long the economic crutch that kept the
Khmer Rouge hobbling along. There is little
of interest to the tourist here, unless you
know a bit about gemstones.
Pursat Marble
Province (186 km from Phnom Penh)
Is located on the western central side of
the Tonlè Sap Lake. Pursat is rich
in forest with mountainous forest covering
much of the region. It goes not have many
ancient temples, but it has an interesting
history of war between Khmer & Siamese
that took place just before the French colonial
era in Cambodia. The sites of historical interest
such as the Tomb of the Cambodian hero known
as Oknha Klang Meung, he led the war againt
Siamese.
